Working in conjunction with a Spanish sports marketing company, we were charged with coming up with an interactive element for an inter team competition for the highly prestigious event of the players receiving their team cars from official sponsor AUDI. A truly auspicious event covered by all major Spanish media outlets and TV companies. With a one chance live event in front of the world’s press there really was no room for error.
Batak Pro hire was just one element of the activation. The others were the self-counting keepy up ball juggling contest between two players, and the head to head electricity producing bike element. Once live, all scores and times from the 2 sets of 3 activities were displayed on the large LED backdrops on stage. All had to work in tandem with each other and all were started via remote control at the identical time – quite a challenge for the tech guys.
The Batak Hire Barcelona project began with us delivering two Batak Pro units to the tech guys in Barcelona. We liaised with them through every stage and were able to modify the units from having a press button start to being able to start the units with remote control. Not a simple process but once this had been completed it was phase one complete.
We then moved on to collaborate with the stand builders and designers. We had previously supplied the Batak Pro CAD dimensions to them and were on hand to trial the set with them. To keep it all slick the Batak Pro units were wall mounted. We had to ensure the perfect fit as the sets were modular and due to be delivered and installed at Camp Nou only a few days later. We also were due to supply them to Real Madrid FC immediately after this event so there was no room for error. Once the stand builders, tech guys and ourselves were fully confident, we delivered and installed to the prestigious Camp Nou stadium. With full FC Barcelona and Audi branding the sets looked amazing. We trialled, trialled and trailled again all the interactive elements and all ran smoothly in time for pre-records and rehearsals. It really was a mammoth effort and a lot of hard work for what was going to be an hour ‘live’ show. Once rehearsals had gone smoothly, there really was no turning back.
4 weeks of planning and fine tuning were now ready to be displayed in their full glory. As all the household name of world superstar FC Barcelona players turned up – it was show time. The squad was split up into two teams and it was time for them to go head to head on the FC Barcelona Batak Hire Challenge, the Electric generating bikes and the amazing self-counting keepy uppy footballs.
The event was a huge success and added a real amount of theatre to the event. The clients, marketing agency, club and sponsors were absolutely astounded how well the event had been and what a success it was prior to the all-important receiving of the player’s cars.
Once concluded it was time for breakdown and straight off to Madrid, where we were running an identical activation for Real Madrid FC.
